About the Website

RotatingRoom.com is the result of several failed attempts by the author to sublet his room while on away rotations and the recurring nightmares about the thousands of dollars paid in useless rent.

This website aims to help the thousands of medical students around the country find places to stay while doing away rotations and help them find med students to sublet their rooms at the same time. The website improves upon existing methods (eg mailing-list spam or craigslist postings) by being designed specifically for students:

  1. Improved sublet posting: The site automatically generates a unique page for each sublet, including details about the room, a map of the sublet, a panoramic street view, and customized (and automated) public transit directions to the hospital. Moreover, your sublet will be come up in a search for any nearby hospital, including hospitals affiliated with other medical schools!
  2. Improved search and visualization: Visiting students can search by the school and hospital at which they are rotating, and see available sublets on a Google map sorted by proximity to that hospital. Visitors can sort results by distance, availability, and cost.
  3. Exclusive to students: Only students are able to post and inquire about sublets, helping decrease some of the anxiety associated with subletting to a complete stranger. All inquiries are mediated by the site itself, so your contact information will never be posted or revealed.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you find the site useful. It is a work in progress, so I would love your comments and suggestions for improvement!
